Under the patronage of the Justices Network for Prisoner and with funding from the Norwegian People’s Aid, the Nass Organization for Development in Sulaymaniyah governorate organized a symposium entitled “The Fundamental Rights of Prisoners: Between Theory and Practice.” The symposium discussed the rights to examination and classification as the basis for starting the reform process.
The examination, conducted by specialists, focuses on assessing the prisoner’s personality from biological, psychological, and social aspects, while classification involves distributing prisoners among institutions according to criteria such as age, gender, and type of crime.
These theoretical foundations were then compared with the practical reality in the reform institutions in Kurdistan.
