A visit to Diyala Central Prison

As part of the “Promoting Human Rights in Iraqi Prisons” project, implemented by the Justice Network for Prisoners  and supported by the Norwegian People’s Aid, the Al-Irada Relief and Development Organization conducted its first field visit to Diyala Central Prison in Baqubah on August 31, 2025.

The visit, titled “Monitoring the Conditions of Detainees and Convicts in Iraq to Promote Human Rights,” was coordinated with the Diyala Office of the Human Rights Commission. The organization’s delegation met with the prison administration to discuss the conditions and needs of prisoners and detainees, focusing on key human rights-related issues.

This initiative marks the beginning of a series of field visits aimed at improving prison conditions and protecting the rights of inmates across various Iraqi reformatories.
