ضمن برنامج زيارة رئيس مجلس الامناء الاستاذ هوكر جتو الى محافظة البصرة للفترة من ٢٤-٢٥
لاجراء التقييم الفرقي لمحافظة البصرة والمحافظات الجنوبية تم تنظيم عدة فعاليات حيث تمت
زيارة السجن المركزي في محافظة البصرة وتسليم جائزة مانديلا الى الحقوقي (سليم سالم هادي) مدير سجن البصرة المركزي، وذلك للدعم الا محدود الذي تبذله ادارة القسم في مجال حقوق السجناء وتوفير بيئة معيشيةوفق المعايير الدوليةحضر مراسيم تسليم الشهادة مدير المفوضية العليا المستقلة للانتخابات الاستاذ مهدي التميمي الذي قام بتسليم الدرع الى الفائز بالجائزة في حين تمً تسليم شهادة التكريم من قبل الاستاذ هوكر
بعدها تم التجوال في اقسام السجن وزيارة الورش الفنية التي يعمل عليها السجناء وشملت ورش نجارة وحدادة وورش تصليح الاجهزة الالكترونية وايضا ورش خياطة وحلاقة وجميع العمال فيها من السجناء

Within the visit program of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Hogr Jatu, to the Basra Governorate for the period from 24-25, several events were organized as part of the individual assessment for the Basra Governorate and the southern provinces.

A visit was made to the central prison in the Basra Governorate, and the Mandela Prize was awarded to the human rights activist (Saleem Salim Hadi), the director of the central prison in Basra. This recognition was for the invaluable support provided by the department in the field of prisoners’ rights and the provision of a living environment in accordance with international standards.

The certificate presentation ceremony was attended by the director of the Independent High Electoral Commission, Mr. Mehdi Al-Tamimi, who handed over the shield to the award winner. Additionally, a certificate of appreciation was presented by Mr. Hawker.

Afterwards, a tour was conducted in the prison sections, and visits were made to the art workshops where prisoners are involved. These workshops included carpentry, blacksmithing, electronic device repair, as well as sewing and barber workshops, all operated by prisoners.
