First Day of “Health Week” Launched in Sulaymaniyah Reformotories

The “Health Week” activities kicked off today in Sulaymaniyah Governorate’s Rformotories, organized by the Justice Network for Prisoners in Iraq (JNP) through the Democracy and Human Rights Development Center (DHRD). The initiative aims to enhance healthcare services and address the health conditions of adult male, female, and juvenile detainees within Reformotories.

On the first day of the campaign, a press conference was held at the Sulaymaniyah Adult Reformotories, attended by Mr. Ehsan Abdulrahman Baban, Director General of Social Reform; Mr. Karzan Fadel, Head of the Democracy and Human Rights Development Center, representing the Justice Network for Prisoners; Dr. Soran, Deputy Director General of the Sulaymaniyah Health Directorate; and representatives from various health and humanitarian bodies, companies, and hospitals participating in the campaign.

The first day included medical examinations for detainees at the adult Reformotory, conducted by medical teams from participating health authorities and companies, in collaboration with Anwar Sheikha Hospital. The services aimed to provide medical care, perform necessary check-ups, and enable early detection of health conditions requiring follow-up and treatment.

Additionally, Proteam Company took part in the campaign by carrying out disinfection and sanitization operations at the women’s and juveniles’ Reformotories, as part of preventive measures to ensure a healthy and safe environment for female and juvenile detainees, as well as staff.

This campaign is part of the Justice Network for Prisoners in Iraq’s efforts to promote the right to health within correctional institutions, and to support cooperation and coordination among government agencies, health institutions, civil society organizations, and the private sector. It contributes to improving the quality of health and preventive services provided to male, female, and juvenile detainees, and to enhancing healthcare standards within Reformotories.

The campaign also underscores the importance of partnership among relevant stakeholders in addressing detainees’ health needs, and in entrenching an approach based on human dignity, prevention, access to healthcare, and rehabilitation.

انطلاق اليوم الأول من «الأسبوع الصحي» في إصلاحيات السليمانية

انطلقت في محافظة السليمانية، اليوم، فعاليات «الأسبوع الصحي» في المؤسسات الإصلاحية، الذي تنظمه شبكة العدالة للسجناء في العراق (JNP) من خلال مركز إنماء الديمقراطية وحقوق الإنسان (DHRD)، بهدف تعزيز الرعاية الصحية والاهتمام بالأوضاع الصحية للنزلاء والنزيلات والأحداث داخل المؤسسات الإصلاحية.
وشهد اليوم الأول من الحملة تنظيم مؤتمر صحفي في إصلاحية الكبار في السليمانية، بحضور السيد إحسان عبدالرحمن بابان، المدير العام للإصلاح الاجتماعي، والسيد كارزان فاضل، رئيس مركز إنماء الديمقراطية وحقوق الإنسان، ممثلاً عن الشبكة العدالة للسجناء، إلى جانب الدكتور سۆران نائب مدیر عام لمیدیرة عامة الصحة السلیمانینة وعدد من ممثلي الجهات والمؤسسات الصحية والإنسانية والشركات والمستشفيات المشاركة في فعاليات الحملة.
وتضمن اليوم الأول إجراء فحوصات طبية للنزلاء في إصلاحية الكبار، من خلال الفرق الطبية التابعة للجهات الصحية والشركات المشاركة، وبالتعاون مع مستشفى أنور شيخا، بهدف تقديم الخدمات الطبية وإجراء الفحوصات اللازمة والكشف المبكر عن الحالات الصحية التي تتطلب المتابعة والرعاية.
كما شاركت شركة Proteam في فعاليات الحملة من خلال تنفيذ أعمال التعفير والتعقيم في إصلاحية النساء والأحداث، في إطار الإجراءات الوقائية الرامية إلى توفير بيئة صحية وآمنة للنزيلات والأحداث والعاملين داخل الإصلاحية.
وتأتي هذه الحملة في إطار جهود شبكة العدالة للسجناء في العراق لتعزيز الحق في الصحة داخل المؤسسات الإصلاحية، ودعم التعاون والتنسيق بين الجهات الحكومية والمؤسسات الصحية ومنظمات المجتمع المدني والقطاع الخاص، بما يسهم في تحسين مستوى الخدمات الصحية والوقائية المقدمة للنزلاء والنزيلات والأحداث، وتعزيز معايير الرعاية الصحية داخل المؤسسات الإصلاحية.
كما تؤكد الحملة أهمية الشراكة بين مختلف الجهات المعنية في معالجة الاحتياجات الصحية للنزلاء، وترسيخ مقاربة قائمة على الكرامة الإنسانية، والوقاية، والوصول إلى الرعاية الصحية، وإعادة التأهيل.
