A field visit to the women’s prison in Muthanna

As part of the project to improve human rights in Iraqi prisons, funded by the Norwegian People’s Aid Organization and in cooperation with the Justice Network for Prisoners, the Women’s Rights Center in Samawah conducted a visit to the women’s prison in the Al-Khidr district on August 28, 2025.

The visit focused on evaluating the conditions of the female inmates and the extent to which their detention conditions comply with national and international standards, including health services, psychological and social support, and the detention environment.

This visit aims to monitor violations and provide practical recommendations to improve detention conditions and ensure the humane treatment of female inmates.
