Under the patronage of the Justice Network for Prisoners and with funding from the Norwegian People’s Aid, the Nas for Development Organization held a symposium on the right to education for prisoners on October 21, 2025.
The symposium discussed the importance of education in rehabilitating prisoners through literacy programs and promoting respect for law and order. It addressed the areas of general education and vocational training in trades such as carpentry and blacksmithing. Diverse teaching methods were also discussed, including the allocation of schools within prisons and the establishment of libraries to raise the cultural level, along with the role of newspapers as an educational and communication tool.
During the sessions, the reality of teaching methods in reform institutions in Kurdistan was analyzed and compared with global experiences, based on relevant international and local laws.
