Day Four of the Health Week Campaign in Sulaymaniyah

As part of the activities of the fourth day of the Health Week campaign, overseen by  Justice Network for the Prisoners’with support from the Norwegian People’s Aid Organisation, Sulaymaniyah Medical City witnessed a day packed with awareness, administrative, and developmental activities, distributed across various venues. Each activity focused on a specific reform area, as follows:

First:
The Health Workers Syndicate organised a union session focused on the reform of medicine and medical supplies distribution. The mechanism for expediting the disbursement of medicines to critical departments and improving the work environment was discussed, along with proposals to resolve the daily issues faced by nursing teams.

Also, the Development Organisation (CDO) held two consecutive sessions in the same hall. The first session addressed the reform of health financing and investment, presenting the “Persian Capital” model for establishing an internal investment fund to develop infrastructure. The second session was dedicated to presenting 21 developmental initiatives, including digital transformation, staff training, and clean energy projects, within the framework of institutional development reform.

Second: In the regular hall, four integrated activities were organised:

A coordination meeting was held with a community organisation, discussing primary healthcare reform, community awareness plans, and follow-up for chronic patients after their discharge from hospital.

This was followed by a second session by the Development Organisation (CDO), during which 20 additional initiatives were presented, focusing on improving service quality and linking performance to the budget, within the framework of quality improvement reform.

Then, an extensive dialogue session was held between the Workers’ Syndicate and the Rights Administration, discussing the reform of securing protective supplies and a safe work environment, with an emphasis on the rapid receipt of protective clothing and equipment for staff.

The activities in the regular hall concluded with a seminar organised by the Democracy and Human Rights Development Centre (DHRD), addressing the reform of patients’ and workers’ rights. The seminar raised awareness about complaint mechanisms and whistleblower protection, recommending the establishment of a complaints office within each hospital and mandatory training for all staff in the field of human rights.
