Meeting with the Higher Commission for Human Rights-Baghdad

On July 19, 2026, the Justice Network for Prisoners’ participated in an expanded meeting convened by the Higher Commission for Human Rights, chaired by the Commission’s Advisor, Mr. Saad Al-AbduLI. The meeting was attended by Mr. Kadhim Al-Baydani, Deputy Head ofthe Justice Network for Prisoners’ Administration; Mr. Hawker Chato, Head of the Public Aid Organization; and Sangar Khidr, Director of the Executive Office of the Justice Network for Prisoners’ in Baghdad, along with the Commission’s department directors.

The meeting discussed mechanisms for improving humanitarian and health conditions in correctional institutions and detention centers, coordinating field monitoring programs, supporting the legislation of alternative sanctions laws in coordination with the Council of Representatives, the Supreme Judicial Council, and the Ministry of Justice, in addition to enhancing psychological and social rehabilitation for detainees and developing the criminal justice system in accordance with international and national human rights standards.
