During the 48th session of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), held from December 20 to 31, 2024, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights presented a comprehensive report on the state of human rights in Iraq, based on input from relevant stakeholders.
Objectives of the Report:

- Assess Iraq’s adherence to recommendations from previous UPR cycles.
- Review legal and political reforms related to human rights.
- Identifying Challenges:
- Address issues related to civil and political rights, economic and social rights, and criminal justice, including prisoners’ rights.

- Provide practical solutions to support efforts in promoting human rights.
- Emphasize the importance of national and international collaboration in improving conditions.

The report serves as a crucial tool for reviewing Iraq’s international commitments and calls for adopting policies that uphold human rights in line with United Nations standards.
Note: The report includes recommendations No. 17, 70, and 104, which were based on proposals submitted by the Justice Network for Prisoners.

خلال الدورة الثامنة والأربعين للاستعراض الدوري الشامل، التي عُقدت بين 20 و31 ديسمبر 2024، قدمت مفوضية الأمم المتحدة السامية لحقوق الإنسان تقريرًا شاملاً حول حالة حقوق الإنسان في العراق، مستندة إلى ورقة معلومات من الجهات المعنية.
أهداف التقرير:
تحليل الوضع الراهن:
تقييم التزام العراق بتوصيات الدورات السابقة.
مراجعة الإصلاحات القانونية والسياسية في مجال حقوق الإنسان.
تحديد التحديات:
معالجة القضايا المرتبطة بالحقوق المدنية والسياسية، والاقتصادية والاجتماعية، وقضايا العدالة الجنائية وحقوق السجناء.
اقتراح التوصيات:
تقديم حلول عملية لدعم جهود تعزيز حقوق الإنسان.
التأكيد على دور التعاون الوطني والدولي في تحسين الأوضاع.
أهمية التقرير:
يمثل التقرير أداة مهمة لمراجعة التزامات العراق الدولية، ودعوة لتبني سياسات تدعم حماية حقوق الإنسان، استنادًا إلى معايير الأمم المتحدة.
