A Visit to Support Prisoners’ Rights at Sulaymaniyah Reformatory

On August 27, 2025, the Center for the Development of Democracy and Human Rights (DHRD), in collaboration with Justice Network for the Prisoners’ and with funding from the Norwegian People’s Aid organization, conducted a field visit to the Sulaymaniyah Adult Reformatory.

The visit, led by Legislative Lawyer Suhaib Aref, included meetings with the staff, comprising social and psychological researchers and department officials, as well as discussions with inmates. The conversations focused on mechanisms for implementing prisoners’ rights and the impact of current conditions on services provided.

The two parties also discussed ways of future cooperation to enhance capacities and organize training programs for employees in legal and psychological fields, contributing to service development and supporting reform efforts.

زيارة لدعم حقوق السجناء في إصلاحية السليمانية

بتاريخ ٢٧-٨-٢٠٢٥، قام مركز انماء الديمقراطية وحقوق الإنسان

(DHRD) وبالتعاون مع شبكة العدالة للسجناء، وبتمويل من منظمة مساعدات الشعب النرويجي، بزيارة ميدانية إلى إصلاحية الكبار في السليمانية.

تمثلت الزيارة، التي قادها المحامي التشريعي صهيب عارف، في مقابلات مع الكادر الوظيفي الذي ضم الباحثين الاجتماعيين والنفسيين ومسؤولي القسم، بالإضافة إلى لقاءات مع نزلاء. وتمحورت النقاشات حول آليات تطبيق حقوق السجناء وأثر الظروف الحالية على الخدمات المقدمة.

كما ناقش الطرفان سبل التعاون المستقبلي لتعزيز القدرات وتنظيم برامج تدريبية للموظفين في المجالات القانونية والنفسية، بما يخدم تطوير الخدمات ويدعم جهود الإصلاح.
