Day Five and Conclusion of the Health Week Campaign in Reformotories -Sulaymaniyah

On Thursday, August 13, 2026, the activities of the Health Week campaign in Reformotories  in Sulaymaniyah Governorate concluded. The campaign was organized by the Justice Network for Prisoners (JNP) in collaboration with the General Directorate for Social Reform and the Sulaymaniyah Health Directorate, with the participation of a number of government institutions, organizations, unions, and health and community bodies, as part of efforts to enhance joint cooperation to improve health and humanitarian conditions for inmates.

The fifth day featured a range of activities and services that contributed to fulfilling the campaign’s objectives, most notably the provision of clothing and hygiene supplies by the Democracy and Human Rights Development Center (DHRD), alongside a comprehensive cleaning campaign at the adult correctional facility with the participation of volunteers.

The Health Sector Workers’ Union – Sulaymaniyah Branch also supported the campaign by providing an ambulance for patient transport, supplying a mobile medical team, and equipping 9 health kits for the two correctional facilities. Anwar Sheikha Hospital participated by supplying medicines and medical supplies and sending a mobile medical team to both correctional facilities to provide check-ups and medical consultations for inmates.

In the area of psychological support and awareness, the People for Development Organization (PDO) organized an awareness seminar at the Women’s and Juveniles Reformotory Directorate on how to deal with thoughts and enhance mental health awareness. The Investigators Organization for the Support of Rule of Law and Democracy (IOL) also contributed by providing patient chairs, thereby improving access to health services for inmates in need of mobility support.

Throughout the campaign, a series of awareness seminars and activities were organized addressing topics such as public health, disease prevention, drug dangers and prevention methods, in addition to conducting medical examinations and providing consultations and necessary treatments under the supervision of specialized medical teams and volunteers.

At the conclusion of the campaign, an evaluation session was held with the participation of the involved entities, institutions, and organizations. During the session, the implemented activities and achieved results were reviewed, challenges and lessons learned were discussed, and ways to develop future cooperation in the field of healthcare within Reformotories  were explored.

The Justice Network for Prisoners affirms that the success of this campaign reflects the importance of partnership between government institutions, the health sector, and civil society organizations in responding to the health and humanitarian needs of inmates. It also represents a practical step toward enhancing healthcare and human dignity within Reformotories  and supporting opportunities for rehabilitation and social reintegration of inmates.

اليوم الخامس واختتام حملة الأسبوع الصحي في المؤسسات الإصلاحية – السليمانية

اختُتمت، يوم الخميس الموافق 13 آب 2026، فعاليات حملة الأسبوع الصحي في المؤسسات الإصلاحية بمحافظة السليمانية، التي نظمتها شبكة العدالة للسجناء (JNP) بالتعاون مع المديرية العامة للإصلاح الاجتماعي ومديرية صحة السليمانية، وبمشاركة عدد من المؤسسات الحكومية والمنظمات والنقابات والجهات الصحية والمجتمعية، في إطار تعزيز التعاون المشترك لتحسين الظروف الصحية والإنسانية للنزلاء. وشهد اليوم الخامس مجموعة من الأنشطة والخدمات التي أسهمت في استكمال أهداف الحملة، من أبرزها توفير الملابس ومستلزمات النظافة من قبل مركز إنماء الديمقراطية وحقوق الإنسان (DHRD)، إلى جانب تنفيذ حملة تنظيف شاملة في إصلاحية الكبار بمشاركة المتطوعين. كما ساهمت نقابة العاملين في القطاع الصحي – فرع السليمانية في دعم الحملة من خلال توفير سيارة إسعاف لنقل المرضى، وتوفير فريق طبي جوّال، بالإضافة إلى تجهيز 9 حقائب صحية للإصلاحيتين. كما شارك مستشفى أنور شيخة في توفير الأدوية والمستلزمات الطبية، وإرسال فريق طبي جوّال إلى كلتا الإصلاحيتين لتقديم الفحوصات والاستشارات الطبية للنزلاء. وفي مجال الدعم النفسي والتوعية، نظمت منظمة الناس للتنمية (PDO) ندوة توعوية في مديرية إصلاحية النساء والأحداث حول كيفية التعامل مع الأفكار وتعزيز الوعي بالصحة النفسية. كما ساهمت منظمة المحققين لدعم سيادة القانون والديمقراطية (IOL) في توفير كراسي للمرضى، بما يعزز إمكانية وصول النزلاء الذين يحتاجون إلى الدعم الحركي إلى الخدمات الصحية. وخلال الحملة، نُظمت كذلك سلسلة من الندوات والأنشطة التوعوية التي تناولت موضوعات الصحة العامة، والوقاية من الأمراض، ومخاطر المخدرات وسبل الوقاية منها، إضافة إلى إجراء الفحوصات الطبية وتقديم الاستشارات والعلاجات اللازمة بإشراف فرق طبية متخصصة ومتطوعين. وفي ختام الحملة، عُقدت جلسة تقييم بمشاركة الجهات والمؤسسات والمنظمات المشاركة، جرى خلالها استعراض الأنشطة المنفذة والنتائج المتحققة، ومناقشة التحديات والدروس المستفادة، فضلًا عن بحث سبل تطوير التعاون المستقبلي في مجال الرعاية الصحية داخل المؤسسات الإصلاحية. وتؤكد شبكة العدالة للسجناء أن نجاح هذه الحملة يعكس أهمية الشراكة بين المؤسسات الحكومية والقطاع الصحي ومنظمات المجتمع المدني في الاستجابة للاحتياجات الصحية والإنسانية للنزلاء، كما يمثل خطوة عملية نحو تعزيز الرعاية الصحية والكرامة الإنسانية داخل المؤسسات الإصلاحية، ودعم فرص إعادة التأهيل والإدماج الاجتماعي للنزلاء.
