Organized by the Women’s Empowerment Organization (WEO), a dialogue session was held in Erbil and Halabja to enhance women’s electoral and leadership participation. The Justice Network for Prisoners was represented by Ms. Hawre Ra Dilshad (Assistant Director of the Executive Office) and Ms. Chra Mahmoud (Director of the Programs Department).
The session discussed the challenges women face in the political sphere, including cultural barriers, lack of confidence, and restrictions imposed by societal customs and traditions. It was agreed that raising family awareness and adopting supportive government policies are essential.
The recommendations emphasized that empowering women would lead to broader electoral participation, better job opportunities, and greater educational and social independence, making them positive and effective role models in their communities.
It was reaffirmed that women are essential partners in building the future and developing society.
