Conclusion of the “Health Week” Campaign at Al-Hilla Women’s Prison

On the fifth and final day of the Health Week campaign at the Al-Hilla Women’s Reformatory – Babylon, dated 3 September 2026, under the direct supervision of the Justice Network for Prisoners and implemented by Al-Mizan Centre for the Support of the Rule of Law (a member of the network), and with generous funding from the Norwegian People’s Aid organisation, the activities of the “Health Hope” campaign at Al-Hilla Women’s Prison were brought to a close.

The closing day was attended by human rights activist Shwan Sabir Mustafa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Justice Network for Prisoners, and Mr. Senger Khidr Hamad, the Network’s Executive Director, along with representatives of the Human Rights Commission in Babil, the Prison Director, Ms. Manan Youssef Kadhim, and a number of representatives from participating entities.

Details of Activities and Implementing Entities:

• Religious Lecture and Psychosocial Support Sessions:
  Implemented by Al-Mizan Centre for the Support of the Rule of Law, in collaboration with the prison’s psychosocial team, with the aim of enhancing religious, psychological, and social awareness among the female inmates.

• Legal Consultations:
  Provided by Al-Mizan Centre for the Support of the Rule of Law, in coordination with the Human Rights Commission in Babil, whereby free legal consultations were offered to the inmates regarding their rights and the procedures of their cases.

• Distribution of In-Kind Supplies and Gifts to Inmates’ Children:
  This humanitarian initiative was carried out by the Justice Network for Prisoners (under the supervision of Board Chairman Shwan Sabir and Executive Director Senger Khidr), with funding from the Norwegian People’s Aid Organisation. Gifts and in-kind supplies were distributed to the children residing with their mothers in the prison, with the aim of bringing joy to the children and attending to their basic needs.

• Overall Supervision and Coordination:
  Undertaken by the Prison Director, Ms. Manan Youssef Kadhim, in coordination with the Justice Network for Prisoners, Al-Mizan Centre, and the Human Rights Commission, to ensure the smooth running of activities and the achievement of the campaign’s objectives.

This campaign serves as a model of fruitful cooperation between government institutions (such as the prison administration and the Human Rights Commission), civil society organisations (the Justice Network for Prisoners and Al-Mizan Centre), and donor entities (the Norwegian People’s Aid Organisation), in supporting rehabilitation, reform, and comprehensive care programmes for female inmates and their children, reaffirming human rights and dignity even within Reformotories.

اختتام حملة «الأسبوع الصحي» في سجن الحلة للنساء

في اليوم الخامس والختامي من حملة الأسبوع الصحي في السجن الإصلاحي للنساء – بابل، بتاريخ 3 أيلول 2026، وبإشراف مباشر من شبكة العدالة للسجناء، وتنفيذ من مركز الميزان لدعم حكم القانون (أحد أعضاء الشبكة)، وبتمويل كريم من منظمة مساعدات الشعب النرويجي، اختُتمت فعاليات حملة «الأمل الصحية» في سجن الحلة للنساء.

شهد اليوم الختامي حضور كل من الحقوقي شوان صابر مصطفى رئيس مجلس إدارة شبكة العدالة للسجناء، والسيد سەنگەر خدر حمد المدير التنفيذي للشبكة، بالإضافة إلى ممثلين عن مفوضية حقوق الإنسان في بابل، ومديرة السجن السيدة منان يوسف كاظم، وعدد من ممثلي الجهات المشاركة.

تفاصيل الأنشطة والجهات المنفذة:

المحاضرة الدينية وجلسات الدعم النفسي والاجتماعي:
نفذها مركز الميزان لدعم حكم القانون، بالتعاون مع الفريق النفسي والاجتماعي التابع للسجن، وذلك بهدف تعزيز الوعي الديني والنفسي والاجتماعي لدى النزيلات.

الاستشارات القانونية:
قدّمها مركز الميزان لدعم حكم القانون بالتنسيق مع مفوضية حقوق الإنسان في بابل، حيث تم توفير استشارات قانونية مجانية للنزيلات حول حقوقهن وإجراءات قضاياهن.

توزيع المواد العينية والهدايا على أطفال النزيلات:
نفذت هذه المبادرة الإنسانية شبكة العدالة للسجناء (بإشراف رئيس المجلس شوان صابر والمدير التنفيذي سنكر خدر)، وبتمويل من منظمة مساعدات الشعب النرويجي، حيث تم توزيع هدايا ومواد عينية على أطفال النزيلات المودعين مع أمهاتهم، بهدف إدخال البهجة إلى نفوس الأطفال والاهتمام باحتياجاتهم الأساسية.

الإشراف العام والتنسيق:
قامت به مديرة السجن السيدة منان يوسف كاظم، بالتنسيق مع شبكة العدالة للسجناء ومركز الميزان ومفوضية حقوق الإنسان، لضمان سير الفعاليات بسلاسة وتحقيق أهداف الحملة.

تُعد هذه الحملة نموذجاً للتعاون المثمر بين المؤسسات الحكومية (مثل إدارة السجن ومفوضية حقوق الإنسان) ومنظمات المجتمع المدني (شبكة العدالة للسجناء ومركز الميزان) والجهات المانحة (منظمة مساعدات الشعب النرويجي)، في دعم برامج الإصلاح والتأهيل والرعاية الشاملة للنزيلات وأطفالهن، تأكيداً على حقوق الإنسان والكرامة حتى داخل المؤسسات الإصلاحية.
