A field visit to Al-Amara Central Prison

Sponsored by the Justice Network for Prisoners and funded by the Norwegian People’s Aid Organization, representatives of Al-Huda Strategic Studies Foundation visited Al-Amara Central Prison in Maysan Governorate on October 26, 2025.

The visit included a meeting with the prison director and prison staff, in the presence of the director of the Human Rights Office in the governorate. The meeting discussed the reality of the prison in terms of capacity, administration, health services, and rehabilitation programs.

The visit resulted in a preliminary agreement on future cooperation through holding workshops for the prison staff on improving human rights conditions. Observations on ways to develop the work in the prison were also collected.
