A dialogue seminar in Al-Diwaniyah discusses the reality of Iraqi prisons

Under the patronage of the Justice Network  for Prisoners  and with funding from the Norwegian People’s Aid organization, a dialogue seminar was held in Al-Diwaniyah province on October 8, 2025, addressing the reality of Iraqi prisons.

Participants from various community sectors discussed the issue of overcrowding in detention centers, shedding light on prison conditions in terms of space and infrastructure.

The discussions also touched upon the real-life stories of prisoners and their families. The seminar concluded with a call for the necessity of applying international human rights standards in Iraqi prisons.

كما تطرقت النقاشات إلى القصص الواقعية للسجناء وعائلاتهم، واختتمت الندوة بدعوة إلى ضرورة تطبيق المعايير الدولية لحقوق الإنسان في السجون العراقية.
