On the fifth and final day of the Health Week campaign at the Al-Hilla Women’s Reformatory \u2013 Babylon, dated 3 September 2026, under the direct supervision of the Justice Network for Prisoners and implemented by Al-Mizan Centre for the Support of the Rule of Law (a member of the network), and with generous funding from the Norwegian People’s Aid organisation, the activities of the “Health Hope” campaign at Al-Hilla Women’s Prison were brought to a close.<\/span><\/p>\n

The closing day was attended by human rights activist Shwan Sabir Mustafa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Justice Network for Prisoners, and Mr. Senger Khidr Hamad, the Network’s Executive Director, along with representatives of the Human Rights Commission in Babil, the Prison Director, Ms. Manan Youssef Kadhim, and a number of representatives from participating entities.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Religious Lecture and Psychosocial Support Sessions:<\/span><\/strong>
    \nImplemented by Al-Mizan Centre for the Support of the Rule of Law, in collaboration with the prison’s psychosocial team, with the aim of enhancing religious, psychological, and social awareness among the female inmates.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Legal Consultations:<\/span><\/strong>
    \nProvided by Al-Mizan Centre for the Support of the Rule of Law, in coordination with the Human Rights Commission in Babil, whereby free legal consultations were offered to the inmates regarding their rights and the procedures of their cases.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Distribution of In-Kind Supplies and Gifts to Inmates’ Children:<\/span><\/strong>
    \nThis humanitarian initiative was carried out by the Justice Network for Prisoners (under the supervision of Board Chairman Shwan Sabir and Executive Director Senger Khidr), with funding from the Norwegian People’s Aid Organisation. Gifts and in-kind supplies were distributed to the children residing with their mothers in the prison, with the aim of bringing joy to the children and attending to their basic needs.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Overall Supervision and Coordination:<\/span><\/strong>
    \nUndertaken by the Prison Director, Ms. Manan Youssef Kadhim, in coordination with the Justice Network for Prisoners, Al-Mizan Centre, and the Human Rights Commission, to ensure the smooth running of activities and the achievement of the campaign’s objectives.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    This campaign serves as a model of fruitful cooperation between government institutions (such as the prison administration and the Human Rights Commission), civil society organisations (the Justice Network for Prisoners and Al-Mizan Centre), and donor entities (the Norwegian People’s Aid Organisation), in supporting rehabilitation, reform, and comprehensive care programmes for female inmates and their children, reaffirming human rights and dignity even within Reformotories.<\/span><\/p>\n
