In its ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation with relevant government authorities and improve detainees’ conditions, the Justice\u00a0 Network for Prisoners held a coordination meeting with the General Directorate of Social Reform in the Kurdistan Region on Monday, July 28, 2025. The meeting was attended by representatives from several civil society organizations concerned with human rights and social reform.<\/p>\n

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Ihsan Abdulrahman Baban, Director-General of the General Directorate of Social Reform. Civil society and NGO representatives included Mr. Hogir Chato , Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Public Aid Org , Ms. Ramziya Abdulwahhab Amin, President of the Rosa Organization for Women and Environmental Protection, and Ms. Chrakhan Mahmoud Abdullah, Program Officer at the Justice Network for Prisoners<\/p>\n

The discussion focused on the key challenges faced by prisoners in the region, particularly regarding health and service conditions. Participants exchanged views on mechanisms to improve detention environments in line with humanitarian and international standards. Emphasis was placed on enhancing continuous coordination between civil society organizations and the Directorate of Social Reform to ensure effective responses to detainees’ needs.<\/p>\n

The Justice Network for Prisoners stressed the importance of holding such meetings periodically to ensure follow-up on recommendations and keep pace with field developments. Partners agreed to organize a series of workshops and training sessions in the coming phase, targeting prison staff to enhance their professional skills and raise awareness of human rights standards.<\/p>\n

This meeting marks a significant step in the Justice Network for Prisoners ‘s efforts to build a more just and humane reform system in the Kurdistan Region.<\/p>\n
