On January 15, 2025, the Popular Rescue Organization, along with its partners in the project “Enhancing Fair Trials, Improving Detention Conditions, and Eliminating Torture,” funded by the European Union, visited the Judicial Council in the Kurdistan Region. The delegation included representatives from the Investigator for Rule of Law Organization and the Justice Network for Prisoners.<\/p>\n

The delegation met with Judge Shwan Muhyaddin, Deputy Head of the Judicial Council in the Kurdistan Region. During the meeting, they discussed the situation of fair trials for juveniles in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. They also delivered a memorandum containing recommendations collected during nine dialogue sessions held in 2024. These sessions involved investigative judges, juvenile courts, public prosecutors, and judicial investigators from the eight provinces targeted by the project.<\/p>\n

Later, the delegation met with Judge Hakim Abdul-Jabbar, Head of the Judicial Council in the Kurdistan Region. They invited him to attend the comprehensive conference that the Popular Rescue Organization will hold in Baghdad on January 22, 2025.<\/p>\n
